A notebook used to be private.
Somehow yours is not.
Most editors are a window to someone else’s server. Docs is a free local-first document editor that is yours: blocks, real paper pages, built-in AI. Everything saves to your device the moment you type it. No vendors hosting your work.
Everything you write stays on your device. No account. No cloud unless you ask for it. Click anywhere and start writing.
Every piece of content is a block. Click the handle on the left to drag and reorder. Right-click any block for more options.

A document tool that reads your files. Not just your documents.
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, Markdown, DOCX, plain text. Drop one in and Docs opens it as a page you can read and edit. Not a code block. A page.

Ask a Guardian for the document you actually need. It builds the template, not a draft.
Because the file is HTML, what it makes is a real, reusable document with your fields and your layout, saved to your folder. The same route builds small tools: a calculator, a tracker, a form that adds up.
Your documents live on someone else's computer, under someone else's terms.
Docs ends the arrangement.
Your device is the server.
One document. Eight moods.
Eight presets, or any colour you mix. Typography, page layout and the cover change with it, and none of it touches a word you wrote.
The room changes. The writing does not.
The canvas is the room your document lives in, and it is yours to repaint.

Eight windows. One piece of work.
A report is rarely one draft. It is research, half-written passages, a version for one audience and a different one for another. That usually ends up buried in the same page or scattered across a dozen others.
Here every window is a part of the same document. Notes in one, the draft in another, the version for enterprise in a third. The finished result goes to the main page. Tell a Guardian to write into a new window and nothing touches what you are working on until you move it across.
Built for writers, journalists, researchers, students, developers, teams, sales and marketing, and anyone whose work has more parts than it has pages.

Churn fell to 2.3 percent, the lowest we have recorded, and the enterprise pipeline doubled.

Right-click. Give it a power.
A power turns a block into a working tool, inside the document where the thinking happens.
Switch between Free, A4 and Web in the toolbar. The same content, three different canvases.
Free is an endless canvas. A4 is true paper pages. Web reads like an article.
It is your file. Take it anywhere.
A locked format is quiet lock-in. Here, export is a right, not a feature: Markdown, plain text or a standalone HTML page, or print straight to PDF. Bring work in the same way: upload DOCX, Markdown or text and it becomes blocks.
What you make here outlives the tool that made it. No export dance, no asking anyone.

Try Docs for freeAI that reads the page you are on.
The Docs Guardian works inside the document rather than in a sidebar that cannot see anything. Select a block, ask, and the answer knows what you are writing.
Accept it or reject it. Bigger drafts land in a new window, so nothing you wrote gets overwritten.
Your key, Anthropic or OpenAI, straight to your provider. Optional, and never required: Docs is a complete editor with the AI switched off entirely.

Architecture, not a promise
Not synced, not backed up to us, not held anywhere we could read. The file is on your machine and the app is the thing that opens it. Check it yourself in under a minute.
Nothing you write touches our servers.
Is Donezo Docs really free?
Yes. Docs is free to start, with no account, no trial clock and no watermark. It is one of the local-first apps in your Donezo operation space.
Where are my documents stored?
On your device, saved the moment you type. Nothing syncs to our servers and there is no cloud copy unless you choose one yourself.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, it keeps working without a connection. Turn off your wifi and keep writing.
Do I have to use the AI?
No. Docs is a complete editor with the AI switched off. If you switch it on, you bring your own key from Anthropic or OpenAI, and your prompts go straight to your provider.
Can I bring my existing documents?
Yes. Upload DOCX, Markdown or plain text files and they become editable blocks. Export back out as Markdown, plain text or HTML, or print to PDF, any time.
What is the catch?
There is not one hiding in the terms. Docs is free because it is the front door to your Donezo operation space: if you like how this feels, some sibling apps have paid plans. We cannot monetise your data, because we never have it.
Your documents. Your device.
Your AI.
Free to use, with no account and no trial clock. Open a file, write, and press ⁄ when you want the AI. It runs on your key, and everything you make stays a file you can open without us.
